— Contour 2013: nog één jaar te gaan
Contour 2013: nog één jaar te gaan De 6de Biënnale voor Bewegend Beeld start exact binnen één jaar en loopt van zaterdag 24 augustus 2013 tot en met zondag 3 november 2013. De curator Jacob Fabricius (DK) geeft een verrassende invulling aan de biënnale met het thema 'Leisure, Discipline and Punishment' ('Vrije tijd, discipline en straf'). Nationale en internationale kunstenaars presenteren films, video’s en installaties op enkele bijzondere plekken in Mechelen: de gevangenis van Mechelen, de voetbalstadions en de Sint-Romboutskathedraal. Je kan de voorbereidingen van de biënnale volgen op de Facebookpagina van Contour 2013. Contour in Europa Contour slaat de handen in elkaar met drie Europese partners: de Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art (UK), de Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (SE) en de Bucharest International Biennial for Contemporary Art (RO). Binnen het kader van het Europese Culturele Programma 2007-2013 produceren de partners elk twee nieuwe kunstwerken op bijzondere locaties. De nieuwe creaties zijn geïnspireerd door het thema 'Leisure, Discipline and Punishment'. Ze worden alle acht gepresenteerd tijdens Contour 2013 in Mechelen en bij de andere drie partnerbiënnales. Newtopia: dé Mechelse tentoonstelling van 2012 Het is nog even aftellen tot Contour 2013, maar dit jaar kan je in Mechelen alvast terecht voor 'Newtopia: de staat van de mensenrechten' (1.09-10.12.2012). Op 1 september opent deze internationale tentoonstelling van hedendaagse beeldende kunst, gewijd aan mensenrechten. De curator is de Griekse Katerina Gregos, die onder andere Contour 2009, de Biënnale van Venetië in 2011 en Manifesta 9 op haar palmares heeft staan. Uiteraard zet Contour haar schouders mee onder Newtopia. We hopen dan ook dat jullie dit jaar alvast naar Mechelen afzakken voor een portie hedendaagse kunst van internationaal niveau.

— Contour 2013: just one year to go
Contour 2013: just one year to go The 6th Biennial of Moving Image starts in exactly one year, and runs from Saturday 24 August 2013 to Sunday 3 November 2013. The curator Jacob Fabricius (DK) is adding a surprising facet to the biennial with the theme 'Leisure, Discipline and Punishment'. National and international artists will be presenting films, videos and installations in a number of special places in Mechelen: Mechelen prison, the football stadiums and St. Rumbold's Cathedral. You can follow the biennial preparations on the Contour 2013 Facebook page. Contour in Europe Contour is joining forces with three European partners: the Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art (UK), the Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (SE) and the Bucharest International Biennial for Contemporary Art (RO). Within the context of the European Culture Programme 2007-2013 the partners are each producing two new artworks in special locations. The new creations are inspired by the theme 'Leisure, Discipline and Punishment'. All eight will be presented at Contour 2013 in Mechelen and at the other three partner biennials. Newtopia: the ultimate 2012 Mechelen exhibition It is still a while to wait for Contour 2013, but this year you can also go to Mechelen to see 'Newtopia: the State of Human Rights' (1.09-10.12.2012). This international exhibition of contemporary visual art devoted to human rights opens on 1 September. The curator is the Greek Katerina Gregos, who among other things has Contour 2009, the Biennial of Venice in 2011 and Manifesta 9 on her record of achievements. Needless to say Contour will also be putting its weight behind Newtopia. We accordingly hope that you will also visit Mechelen this year for a dose of contemporary art of international standing.
